    Hi Guys,

Before optimizing any website most of the client demands for the seo schedule - i.e. how much time will you take to optimize the site, what are the activities. I am not able to define my seo schedule properly.

Can you please suggest me how to compose seo activities weekly like writing tags then adding alternative tags to images, etc.,

I just want to give report friends.

    Elle,

my view is that you need to work on a page by page basis. Quote a time for each page.

Its hard to give this information. You can't sell a service to a client and say its $20 per page as this is never going to produce any results.

If you charge your services at $x per hour you will probably be undervaluing yourself. SEO is not about an hourly labour charge its about producing results. If you produce great results in 5 hours then you can charge $5000. If you produce no results for 5 hours work then you can't charge anything for your work.

Certainly you shouldn't have to provide all your secrets in writing to the client.

Whatever you charge you need to keep the client happy by producing results. If the client gets the results they want then you get paid.

I'd concentrate on the physical acts of doing things, for example give him a time for directory submission, new page creation, present page optimisation, adding links, sitemaps etc. Most don't actually take too long so you can usually space initial optimisation over a couple of weeks that'll allow plenty of time in the event of unforseen events.

In terms of SEO on clients sites I try to push them towards a monthly management fee. In the initial stages you'll obviously be doing much more work that the client will be paying for, though after a couple of months you'll just be adding the odd page and adding links.

I generally give a set monthly, yearly or one-time fee. I explain that this is not PPC or other direct marketing and results vary. Show the success you had with previous sites and explain how you achieved that and the timing of such an achievement.

Show them milestones: new rankings for search-tail keyphrases, more pages indexed, more frequent crawling, increased traffic, etc...

That's a good point about milestones. I always explain to potential customers that instant results aren't going to happen. If they want that then they should go and buy PPC. Though if they're looking for a long-term sustainable source of quality traffic, then SEO is the cheaper option.
This should then be followed by regular monthly/bi-monthly updates.
