Does anybody know Web Directories with a submission model where the submitter is automatically suggested a category to submit link to and should follow this suggestion.
Just type your subject into the search of any well developed directory and you will get topic suggestions. I don't know of any automated system however.
What I am saying is not just a subject. Suggestion is made for website content. Did anyone hear about anything like that? and Would it be interesting to have such WD?
It would be a nice feature for some directory scripts to have. But I don't know a script that have this option.
Interesting idea but I don't see how a script could recognize the website category/genre just by reading the url. I can't figure them out without actually going to the site and looking at them most of the time.
It will be an interesting feature to have but I would not 'automate this'. Most directories already have a search field and that can be used if directory has listings in all categories. The concept of human-editor is still useful because algorithms can't classify content well yet. A lot of people are working on such clustering algorithms, so we might see these things in a couple of years
just replace category to tag or keyword at frontpage.. and it all automate... but, i don't think it will be quality directory..
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Data_clustering a good place to start. You can see that a lot of taxonomy research is taking place.
This is all research papers. They do provide the front line in the field, I know this and aware of them. But do you know anything existing which can be easily tested.
