I would suggest my own but that would be me being partial to my own service lol.
gothost.net is a very good one to use. they have a very good team for support and have just recently added some new servers which are really powerful, they also are not a reseller.

I'm curious who your host is, that it can't handle 4000 visitors. 4,000 visitors is nothing for shared hosting, unless you have some really intensive scripts. You could probably get away with just a really good shared host, instead of a VPS.

You can give dailyrazor a try. My experiences say that they are reliable with good customer support.

I've had great experiences with WiredTree and LiquidWeb for VPS. I've had terrible experiences on the MediaTemple Grid-Service (with a moderate sized forum which really crawled) and with the "Supreme Support" team at UK2 (who I understand run VPS.net) so I'd avoid both of them.

For cheaper shared hosting I have an account with HostGator which I just use when I'm testing things. Up time has been really good but I've not really put it under any heavy load.

Do you get 4k visitors a month or a day.

If you get that many visits a month you should be on shared hosting plan unless you use processor hungry scripts like stated above. Since i can not recommend my self then go with any xyz company it does not matter to me. One thing i would say is look at how long a company has been along and also look at the reviews. Make sure you look at the money back policy and ask for a trial month or a discount code for the first month.(all companies have something like this.)

If you are getting 4k uv a day I would say a 768 mb VPS with cPanel installed should be fine for just that one site and should give you room to grow.

Hope you land up with a reliable host :).

    What is your website content?

    Blog?

You can try use cloud service coz it can lower the server load.

I suggest vps.net for one reason : It is really easy and fast to move to a faster VPS if needed. It's calculable in seconds. :)

Before going with any host do check their presales service and support response time and quality . 30 day moneyback guarantee or trail accounts would help you to take your decision for extending with hosting services.
Are you looking for UK based hosting services ? what's your budget ?

Be careful with very cheap VPS, it's very likely that they will be overloaded to the hilt.
Have you tried turning on caching?
