Suggest me a text editor :)

I need something with code highlight.

Something very light, similar to note pad, but powerfull with php and html preferable


open source would be great.

Definitely. Excellent program. Small footprint. Fast. Tabbed windows. And it's freeware.

It even includes an FTP client, although I haven't actually used that part.

I use editplus

Its light and simple and has some cool features.

 

If you loves simplicity this one is the best choice. Hard to learn but easy to use. I simply love it!

 

ultraedit is the best imho...

you need to pay though...

 

I also use editplus. I have been using it since 2003 and it hasn't locked up or crashed a single time.

have you tried putting 160mb of sql into it?

 

I use crimson edit and really like it... I know other people use ultra edit, but I have been able to do pretty much all I need with crimson edit.

I have used the ftp function and it is not as robust as ultraedit.. but it is okay if you want to edit files via ftp. I prefer not to, as it makes me too prone to over-writing things without appropriate backup.

 

I like Crimson Editor too. And I never edit anything live...
