I need something with code highlight.

Something very light, similar to note pad, but powerfull with php and html preferable :D

    open source would be great.

    I'm using VIM

Definitely. Excellent program. Small footprint. Fast. Tabbed windows. And it's freeware.

It even includes an FTP client, although I haven't actually used that part.

I also use editplus. I have been using it since 2003 and it hasn't locked up or crashed a single time. :D

I use crimson edit and really like it... I know other people use ultra edit, but I have been able to do pretty much all I need with crimson edit.

I have used the ftp function and it is not as robust as ultraedit.. but it is okay if you want to edit files via ftp. I prefer not to, as it makes me too prone to over-writing things without appropriate backup.
