    Hi,

I am planning to purchase a new laptop with a range of $800-$1200.
Please suggest me any other laptop which you think is good and goes with the correct price.

    Thanks

Look for a Core2Duo CPU with at least 2GB Ram. Brands like HP, Dell, Toshiba are recommended.

    P.S. I'm HP Technical support too :D

Dell offer the best laptops atm in my view, take a look at the Studio range especially, they are always reliable and great in terms of bang for the buck

I find acers, dells and some toshibas absolute crap, acers especially.

If there's one you can go for it's IBM all the way, I'm looking for a W ThinkPad series meself in spring.

As your budget is not big, i suggest you to go with any model of Compaq Series within your budget or else raise your budget little bit and go with sony vaio.
