    hii
    I am a 18 year old boy and i made 600 $ in last 3 days :)
    Now i want a laptop i asked me dad and he is ready to buy me
    My range is between 1000-1200 $
    I just seen MacBook Air and i totally amazed with its features.Now MacBook has become my dream laptop but its price is 1499 $ :(
    which my dad is not allowing for it. :(
    Can you suggest any other lappy for me ? :)

    I bought a acer, from walmart, the specs are amazing and the price $540

    specs:

    2 gb of ram
    160 gb hard drive
    756 mb grapichs card
    built in web cam
    built in wireless
    15.4" screen
    1.9 ghz processer

    What more can i say ? Was a damn good deal!

    Its walmart they are always low, also i had a coupon but the marked price was still only $600 and acer is not that much of a name brand. I have had it for over 6 months and not one problem. :)

    Go for HP or IBM instead, well worth the money ;)

    Sony Vaio is a good option...

    Slightly above your price range if you go for higher models..

    Edit: if you want books in your budget, go to Reliance Digital.. Its cool and they give lot of discounts..

    And, IBM is good, but not for an 18 year old... Just wait for sometime, earn more and get a Vaio or Macbook

    IBM thinkpad is also kick butt I got one....basically just go for whatever gives you the most bang for your buck!

    well you might be able to if you install something like vmware on it and then run a virtual windows inside of that.

    I think we cannot install Windows in mac machine, we need to have x86 machines for that right.

    I recently bought a Sony Vaio, and absolutely love it. I purchased it for $1,100 + $300 3-year warranty. I would suggest Sony, Dell, or HP.

    I highly suggest staying away from the Mac Air. Although it is a beauty, it is more for "looks" than for "work". In order to transfer data onto there, you need to spend $100 on a external drive.
