    I am planning to create a website for programmers. Basically it will have code snippets, applications, samples, demos, videos, etc.

    please suggest me a CMS for my site.

    although i use wordpress on my sites i suggest you use joomla since your going to program and stuff.

    I vote Joomla :) All the way!
    Lots of "plugins" and lots of support and coders out there..
    But I must see what drupal is like .. never seen it!

    good choice in my opinion i tried joomla but could never get into it i am a drupal man now. Still kind of new to the platform but you can check out my sites in my signature they are just some simple drupal builds but i haven't focused on them much due to time constraints and other projects. good luck with the new site!

    Wordpress is a publishing platform and good for personal use. It is simple and nice, but that's all. If you want a CMS for a full website, than Joomla is for you. Joomla is not that simple as Wordpress, but after a few weeks you will learn everything you need to run your site. Drupal is nice too, but I have no personal experience with this CMS. AND, you can never find great templates for Drupal. For Joomla you can find thousands.

    Yeah I agree with you. There is no big amount of nice templates for Drupal. But found many nice templates for Joomla.

    drupal is way to go if you know how to use it, for me, it takes days to entirely understand it. and you won't find any 'web 2.0' templates for this cms :D but you can always make ur own. overall its a solid cms. one of the best.
    for other cms seekers out there, there are still many other cms you should try if you had the time. I guarantee some of them should fit you needs.
    I went to http://www.opensourcecms.com and found some interesting candidates for my next sites: websitebaker, Jupiter, and CMSmadesimple. just my 2 cents

    Not surprised. Most people say Joomla and that is the case as it is a bit easier to get started with. Here is a comparison of the two on features (quoted from http://mydrupal.com/joomla-versus-drupal)

    * Any Kind of user groups & user permissions, OpenId compliant in Version 6

    Joomla

    SubDreamer is brilliant I used that a while back. You have to pay for it, but it is very powerful and easy to install/use.
