Suggest high PR Back link Directories...Really Very Urgent...

    Hello Friends,
    i am new to SEO
    As far as i am concerned i knows that if you want your page to be in the top of the search engines then you need to have backlinks
    but as i said earlier i am new to SEO so hardly knows about any of these Backlink directories
    can u guys please help me out and suggest me some high PR directory list with which i can give my new website some sorta reputition
