My site has a traffic of 4000 + visitors with a monthly bandwidth usage of aroung 200-300GB ....with site data of 5GB... Most of the site traffic is from india....I am in a confusion of taking either hostgater VPS plans.. .or Godaddy Dedicated server Economy Plans ...is there any other hosting better than this .....Please provide me ur inputs Thanks Srikanth
I suggest you use VPS coz its more than enough to cover the site current usage. I now using giga-international.com VPS V-Server XL plan.
If you are good with unix command line etc.. a linux VPS that fits to your needings would cost to you around $8-10 per month. Otherwise, if you need a full managed one, go over $30, or if you're lucky, you still find a discount on VPSlatch.net. Is your intention to just keep this site (200-300 gb/mo, 5 gb of space) or you want to increase/create new sites?
Go for x10premium.com, unlimited domains/bandwidth/diskspace - $7/month. As a webmaster, you need to think about your future projects as well. Here is the plan detail again., $3.95/month for 3 year contract $4.95/month for 2 year contract $5.95/month for 1 year contract $6.95/month for 'pay as you go'. I have 4 to 5 websites and each gets more than 1 lakh hits a month., and my sites are going great with good speed and minimum of minimum downtime. Once you feel you need to have more power, they have good and economical VPS plans., you can upgrade to them anytime.
If your site use such high amount of Bandwidth, than choosing any shared host, might not be a good solution, because it may overload the server and your site and others will be slow. You should go for a VPS or a very low cost dedicated server, can handle that much of traffic very smoothly and your site will run much faster, since it will be all your own server, so you will not face problems like getting site suspended or overloading etc
I would recommend ANYTHING OTHER than those 2 aforementioned hosts, they would be my last choices. In fact I'd give anyone transferring over from them some sort of break like 50% for life just to make up for all the time they had to put up with Godaddy or HostGator... Also, you don't have the need for a vps or a dedicated server if you are on a good quality reliable host, a VPS or dedicated can handle a lot of your sites if it is configured correctly on a good uplink without cramming it full.
