I am asking this because they are doing a lot of stupid stuff.

Today I received an e-mail from them in which I was announced that they have changed my account preferences to receive their stupid newsletters about different kind of stuff.

I mean what kind of serious website does that ?

Well, why don't you just set your perferences to not receive the newsletter or something like that.I think its a bit crazy to sue them over something like this. ;)

There might be a reason for it that might not be the one it appears. I got it too. But, cool off a bit, smoky. It's nothing, really.

Agree. I am sure if you are a serious web master, the emails from G will definitely draw your attention. Because I had set my email preferences on, I received an invite for the G Adsense Webinar and was able to ask direct questions to the G Adsense team!

I believe G is ethical enough not to abuse the email subscriptions.

I got the email newsletter changes as well from Google and selected to opt-in some of them. I don't see why should one sue them over this.

I received the same email. I was living the good life for the first time ever until Google banned the PR from just about every directory on the net. No one mentions this, but I noticed when Google began their PR banning outrage, that is when the economy went into recession. I know that I was making thousands of dollars from customers all around the world every week, and I am sure a lot of members here were doing well too. To totally eliminate that cash flow has to have an impact.

why are your panties in a bunch?
emails for this is important stuff, like updating your privacy policy.
i looked in my account and the other boxes are un-checked.

if you didn't receive this email, you wouldn't know about it. :p

you can do this and you'll never receive emails from them again.

They will NOT have entered your account, it will be a change to a GLOBAL setting change.

Would you rather them not tell you about changes they make to adsense TOS, privacy policy, etc and just ban you ???

If you really want, report their email as spam, try to get them black listed, but i don't hold out much hope.

For some things that they change, there would be FAR more people upset and risk suing them if they did not inform them and you... and some things they would legally NEED to inform you about.

If you don't like it stop using their service.

May be i should sue them because i did NOT receive an email from them ???

There's nothing illegal here. You signed up with them and agreed to their TOS which states that they can update change or do anything with your account as they wish.

Nothing illegal, but sign me up to any tort you get cooking. I would love to watch Google die a slow, painful and bloody death! Hate 'em.

Tort cases are not always about the legality of an issue. It can be about denial of perceived value, rights, or other damages caused by anybody anywhere. Big tort cases are decided by juries who have no idea about what laws are, they go by emotion mostly. The main problem is hiring the legal guns to fight someone in court. Unless a lawyer sees massive dollar signs they won't even give you the time of day. That usually means a Class Action.

There is one little niggling thing that people can do though. It is your right to sue anyone in small claims. It usually has a limit of $5000.00 or lower, but it is a proven fact that companies like Google will be no-shows at the hearing. Automatic win for you. I knew a guy once that went around doing this at the drop of hat and it was amazing how many cases he won on default like that.
