I have a portalsite with 1500 unique visitors daily on www. bbguide . eu and have a parked domainname on it www. bedandbreakfast . be Now yesterday I was testing the keywords again (where I was on first and second place already for several years!) and it seemed that my site is ranked at the bottom of the first page - second page - even on third page... so my unique visitors dropped about 75% !! what is happening here.. I didn't change anything on the server (checked for hackings aswell)... after testing my 2 urls to see if they were banned by google the result was: they are 'not banned'... So why the drop suddenly? I also didn't receive a notifcation mail before this drop by google... very frustrating now... I read somewhere that parked domainnames can't be penalized by google? any help? thnx in advance Raey
I think that if we all understood the google beast we'd be a lot richer. I've just about given up trying to understand.
Google rankings often change, if you didn't change anything, then you should be back very soon, work on building backlinks.
Its probably just part of the google 'dance' - perhaps we are just about to go through a PR update and google is re-adjusting their rankings. I've noticed similar things on keywords before, its very fustrating but will go back to normal again soon
If it's only been a day don't take any drastic action just yet. Serps often fluctuate and it could well go back up in a few days. Continue to build content and links. Have you lost any links recently?
Don't worry too much about the drop, continue to build up backlinks and contents, as far as you are doing the right thing you should be fine
Welcome to the inconsistent-Google-mess-with-your-mind-and-business-just because-we-can reality on the web today. Just because you got 1,500 visitors yesterday doesn't mean you will today, or any other day for that matter. Stay on your toes and keep getting more backlinks by submitting articles, trading 3 way links with other webmasters in your niche and so on. The work is never done. Alan
If you have had 1st & 2nd positions for two or more years, you are very, very lucky. It is possible that G is recalculating statistics for your site, which can cause it to drop temporarily. If after one week it does not come back near the top, then I would hire an experienced person to evaluate your site. There are many, many people out there calling themselves SEOs who talk a good game but know very little. So, if you hire someone, make sure you check references. /*tom*/
PR can drop. Most likely cause is drop of PR of some of your links. You should constantly work on back links. Promote your site!
Well... I spend about 3 hours (average) a day promoting my business for the past 4-5 years and I have more (quality) backlinks then the competition right now... I ask for the BBowners to put a link on their site and they are doing this in most cases and I invested already a lot of money in this project (doing SEO/backlinks/promotion stuff online-offline,...) What makes me upset is that sites that are not updated yet for about 1-2 years are now showing on top (!) already for 2 days... yesterday I had about 300 unique visitors instead of 1500... (mostly from adwords) No drop in backlinks recently... I hope this get normal soon...
Digitech, Note "I have more (quality) backlinks then the competition right now" Day 3 and result seems to be same ... am getting desperate after all this work ...
