Should I worry? from 100 to 1000 over night.

direct hits meaning some body actually type in my url onto their browser right? I check my google analytics and it said from "/"

and checked my content and its the "title" of my website.

Iam using adsense in my website. I dont want google to ban me because of this sudden increased.

Should I just sit back and relax and post more contents to the site instead of worry about this?

    thnks for helping

Such an increase is really really strange and almost impossible.
Why don't you check your stats and see which country is the traffic coming from? Maybe that will give you a clue.

Yeah Zexy said it right. Check server and analytics data: where those guys are coming from? Who are they?

By the way did you promote your site via toolbars, widgets, malware?

You probably don't have to worry about your adsense account, unless a high percentage of those people are clicking on your ads.

I think a link that opens in a new window may also count as a direct hit. So hopefully you just recently got such a link on a high traffic blog or website.

Just see what happens over the next few days. That traffic will likely gradually dry up.

Its impossible. I agree as somebosy said that your url links may be poped out on some high traffic site. Otherways, check your analytics and see where those traffics are coming from?

Google analytic doesn't show where these hits are coming from..its just show "(direct) ((none))"

For Geo it is mostly 99% from US and the Connection is "unkown" , Language is en-us

I may think this is a bot since i am using wordpress for this website. I will check back in couple days to see if the traffics still as it. I just afraid until then google will ban my adsense account.

Not to be too direct but... this sounds like someone had fun with your search feature. Could be a bot going nuts with your search function. How many of those hits were from a unique source? If it's 95% from the same source or more you have nothing to worry about.

I thing this is harm to the site.. One time one of client face the same problem.. had fight with one forum member then he clicks 1000 of time in his google adver..( add cense).. Google suspended him . and after send Google mail and gave them the proof then ony they retained his account
