I'm trying to market my site via blog commenting. I've been doing it for a few days. I logged onto webmaster tools and it said I have 12,910 links to my site. None of the blogs are listed. It says I have one from domaintools and one from statscrop. That's it but it still says I have 12,910 to my site. Is this bad? thanks
if the links are legit, then there is nothing to worry about. but if it is from blog comment spamming, then it is BAD
Yeah, comment spam is typically bad. Commenting organic, helpful content is awesome, though. A few good comments that are strategically placed and that actually contribute to a discussion will be worth far more than 1,000 spammy comments.
Yes, of course it's a spam, if possible try to remove that links asap else it may be harmful for your website. Better get 1 good back link instead of 1000 spammy links.
I don't think it's necessarily spam. I did a comment run and after 3 months of hustling had over 18,000 legit links that Webmaster tools cited. I don't think they'll note spam links. I have found this: Sometimes we comment on a platform and the content gets syndicated. Then abviously your link is going to increase and multiply - and I would recommend this. I went from a PR 0 to a PR 4 in 3 months. And never lost that rank.
I've only commented about a dozen times. That's why I'm so shocked. They were helpful too. Most of them had to be approved manually, which they were and most of them got recommented on by the blog owner. Thanks for the replies.
Some blog do have a widget in their sidebars which is a sitewide widget and it shows recent comments and other info. Maybe that is why it might be showing bit too many links then you expected.
If your comment is being shown in sidebar as top commentators then of course, your link would appear on all the posts within that blog... this way you are getting lots of links, once your are removed from top commentators list, your link would disappear in few weeks, I would say.
