Hi All, If a website is ranking well in Google (say in top 5) for few highly competitive keywords, suddenly their ranking is dropped on 2nd page and are now ranking between 15th and 20th position. The websites also have quite good backlink profile. What could be the possible reasons for this fallout? Could it be Google Penalty? If yes how to find it out? Regards, Seo2Learn
Have you noticed a considerable drop in traffic? Google doesn't really display the same search results to everyone. What you might see on page 2 might be on page 1 for others. If there hasn't been a considerable drop in traffic for those specific keywords, then your overall rankings are holding up well. Google might be tweaking it's results, and a drop in SERPs might only be temporary. Are you keeping an eye on your competition? Any changes there? They might have received a boots in SERPs.
@hhsaus: As you say, I also thought that it must be displaying different search results, but when checked the rankings on few different machines at different location, confirmed that its drop in the rankings. If its a penalty, how to find it out, any parameters that I have to check and how to be sure that its general change in the rankings or Penalty? Thanks, Regards, Seo2Learn
Have you maybe changed anything on the site lately? Possibly tags?....From my experience, if you just be patient it may bounce back. These things just happen temporarily sometimes. Don't ask me why
Hello, according to me there may be some reasons for the dropping the ranking of the site that could be :- spamming duplicate content unmatched title and content keywords updation of the content. Thanks.....
if your website is new it maybe google sandbox but if your website is an old domain and already establish its presence to the market i do believe that the competition works harder than you are or the new algothim of google favors other website that beats you.
I think you are facing Google dance problem wait and do your SEO as you are doing you will get back your ranking.
Have you checked the site's stats? Has there been a drop in traffic? This is the first thing i would do. I wouldn't assume it's a penalty at this stage. I would check the traffic in detail, take a look at my competitors to see what's going on there, take a look at my main/major backlinks, any changes to the site....etc
