I've observed many other sites that suffer the same fate, there might be something on latest Google updates that is not being tested or implemented before that should be met.

Pay close attention on who's linking to you.
It may be that the sites linking to you dropped in rank\were penalized.

analyze your competitor sites. And check your back links also.

No, there really is something going on with Google these couple of days. I've had some very stable rankings plummet too, all of a sudden. I believe some stuff is going on with Google right now onwards, until the "anticipated" October PR update (or is there any?).....

It would be helpful if you posted the URL of the site in question.

Movements like you are describing typically have to do with a site that lacks trust and authority due to age and lack of links.

Do you modify the meta description tags and meta keywords of your main landing page? If yes, it may be a google dance. Technically your ranking will be temporaly invisible and it will come back. From my personal experience, one of my keyword ( page 2, 2 millions search competitions ) invisible from serp when i edit the meta tags and content of my homepage. I immediately stop the link building compaign for that keyword and wait. One week later, i found it on top 3 position. What i learn from this lesson is i don't need so much backlinks if i put more weight on onpage seo. Good luck.

I've seen a PR 6 page go to a 2 that has a tremendous amount of inbound links. Some spammy, some not while other internal PR remains the same. Rankings on another one of my sites is going up and down as well so something must be going on. I have noticed Google being MUCH faster at indexing pages on certain sites I'm working on. Not sure if that helps or not. It's hard not to get anxious though. I understand.

There are several factors that might have affected:

    1. Your Domain is new.
    2. Your host is slow or your pages loads slow. (Check Google Page Speed for more info)
    3. There are more competitors popping up.

    Recommended Solution:

Check your google webmaster tools account and solve those "crawl errors".

As you can see, all you're getting here are a bunch of wild guesses based on ZERO facts.

If you want help determining the source of your problem, you need to provide the URLs that were ranking and the keywords they were ranking for.

Then and only then will you have a chance of getting some "real" help with your problem.

    same effect happen here too.
when compare google to yahoo/bing... i start to prefer yahoo more now, the search result are making more sense.
annoying with google result somehow, there are new domains that get ranked top.
also found a domain with "forbidden access" ranked top too, been seeing this for nearly a week time.

Seriously, without knowing your domain or terms you are ranking for, the real SEOs that can offer aid are sitting here in the dark while we wait to help you.

Just keep doing seo for your keywords!! Google likes stability so if you keep link building with the same rate it will get your ranks back!

There is no such thing a *urgent* in SEO. The solution must be applied slow and steady.

There was a time at DP when no one dare make a recommendation without absolute facts in hand. Today, no one cares. Most spew garbage just to post and get another BL. Sad....

If google is dancing, I'm only seeing the good side. Traffic just keeps going up up up, with my keywords ranking higher each day. I've stopped doing seo and just watching it unfold now.

I had this problem for one of my sites. My ranking dropped without any reason for about one month. I assumed it was a penalty but from last sunday the site has come back to its original position. I wonder why google does this type of things.
