Sudden drop in indexed pages

    I noticed today that the indexed pages for one of my sites dropped from about 2000 to 4.
    What could be the reason for this big drop?

    Make sure you didn't make any major changes to the layout or any background stuff. One error in code may not appear in the browser but it will stop the google crawlers. Also submit a sitemap to google webmaster central and see what's wrong.

    My indexed pages dropped from 8500 to 3200 :(

    And I haven't even changed anything on the site.
