Hi, I have read about this problem many times but my case seems unique.

Its Joomla 1.5 and its a news site. The pages are giving me a 404 error, a few hours before it was fine.

Search engine friendly URLS were on and have been all the time. I read that turning this off makes it work again, so yes I turned them off and the site works (in a fashion) the thing is the urls have to be exactly like I sent to G News as they read them.

I then read that if you rename a text file to .htaccess in cpanel and turn apache rewrite on in joomla config it will work and it did but the problem is the URL is slightly different.

    It looks like this now:

    http://www.release-news.com/society...work-introduced-could-it-be-the-next-facebook

The thing is I need it like this:

    http://www.release-news.com/index.p...work-introduced-could-it-be-the-next-facebook

I need it to include the index.php bit. Cany anyone tell me how to make it rewrite the url with the index.php in it?

    Thanks
