I have been toying with the idea of using affiliate campaigns to drive sign ups to my forum. I see some potential pitfalls in doing so, such as affiliates simply signing up themselves to be paid. Anyone have any experience in doing so and circumventing such issues to have a successful campaign?
Yeah, there's nothing you can do about affiliates signing up themselves to get paid...especially if they have access to proxy networks and bother to make a couple posts with each account. If you choose to do an affiliate campaign for signups, don't offer real money per signup. Think of some prizes you can give for the top 3 winners and require X amount of minimum entrants for prizes to be given out.
