Success with investors?

I am working on a startup project that I fully believe will be an amazing source of income. The project is coming to a good point where I am about to begin buying some additional 'material' needed for the business, that and looking into advertising ( adwords possibly, few other sources ).

I have family that is planning to chip in a bit, but recently I had been thinking of trying to find bigger investors ( nothing over a grand from each, from maybe three or so ).

My question, is has anyone here found any success or good relationships in working with investors? If so, where do you find a good, honest investor from?

You can find some investors on here although it will take alot of effort.
There are alot of people starting out on this forum looking for investment, $1000+ is alot of money so expect a huge amount of questions from any interested people.
They will want to know everything and anything about your business so make sure you have all of the information ready for them.
Don't just "have a chat on msn" :)

Be sure to get some signed Non-Disclosure Agreements while you're at it!

I wish you luck, though. And I appreciate you guys pointing out that there are investors here. Not that I need one any time soon, but it's cool to know DP is a place where people do help each other out. :)

Thanks for your replies. I wasn't sure if there were any here or not, and if anyone has ever used an investor for a project before.

I would also ensure some sort of contract / agreement was signed, simply for both parties protection. Also not sure if this would be something that I should consider from investors from my country only, since I don't think our laws would protect either party outside.

GoBigNetwork.com has some good investors. Most will want a big chunk of your company and 80% of the people on forums for investing are frauds just trying to see if you actually do have a good idea.

Thanks. Might just look into getting a small personal load for my purpose then. Would rather pay back what I've borrowed and a bit extra than sign off a major portion of company.
