Many times, each editing session is like throwing a dart at a map. No matter where it lands, there are site suggestions waiting for review, and lots of structure work that needs to be done.

Usually, it will spider out from that starting point to other areas that need attention, so it really is a random sort of thing that leads in all directions.

In the case of a small category, it usually means getting out on the net and going hunting.

I'm sure that the stumble exchange link in your signature had NOTHING to do with the increase in traffic....

I'm sorry if the links to Matt Cutts that Minstrel gave were not reliable sources, while a post from someone offering stumble exchanges were top notch quality...

Uh for your information, stumble exchanges do not increase the search engine traffic of a site. They show as no follow when you add a site. -.- Also the site that you are looking at is not even the one that I'm talking about. Its the 3rd one.

Its funny that people get so aggravated when others see good results while they don't. :p

Not all SE's bother with the nofollow tag, I assumed you knew that ;) And I figured it was not the one we were talking, I just noticed it there, and trust me, regardless of which SE's bother with the nofollow tags, StumbleUpon certainly offers traffic...much more traffic then any directory (heh, I'd say ALL directories rolled up in one).

I get no traffic from stumbleupon fyi. Also most of my traffic comes from google which follow the "no follow" rule (LOL), not any other se's. hehehe:D:D

Very interesting topic this morphed into, I would've never known that you could pay to get listed...very unfortunate that a few can spoil the efforts of many to keep it genuine.

Whether DMOZ accepts or denies your suggestion is not the problem. Any directory is expected to list some sites and leave others off.
The problem with DMOZ is how editors treat users who submit websites to it. In the first place if you submit a site and ask any question about the submission, you have to be a spammer. Secondly, if you have any improvement suggestion, you have misunderstood what DMOZ is. [You are st**id.]

I can see your point, but your feelings and desires are not an issue because you are not who we serve.

All editors can sympathize with your desire to be listed and your desire to have a say in the process, but you want us to spend the scarce resources the Directory has, to satisfy your curiousity or to make things easier for yourself, and to be perfectly honest (as you have requested), the Directory feels it should use those resources for the benefit of the editors who actually do the work.

There would be no benefit to the Directory in satisfying your needs.

But your signature notes you don't speak in the name of DMOZ.

An "improvement suggestion" is something that will benefit DMOZ. Why are you talking about my needs? Oh, right. You are a DMOZ editor and it's your nature to transform what other people said into something you can handle. But I don't need a DMOZ improvement as I submitted my site years ago. And it's not going to be listed. I don't need it to be listed. And, from a couple of month to this time, I don't want it listed.

That is absolutely correct. I don't speak for Dmoz, nor do I speak for the editing community, I only speak for myself. Anything I say is personal opinion based on editing experience, so you can believe me or not, but I have no reason to lie or give out false information.

As I haven't been corrected by any other editors, and I can back up what I say with the Guidelines (except for revealing proprietary information), I feel fairly confident that I haven't mislead anyone here. :)
