Anyone can share their experiences with directory submissions? What is your success rate? How many directories have accepted your site say out of a 100 submissions?

If you just pick 100 directories at random your approval rates will be quite low. There are too many free directories that have not added a free listing in years. If you choose your directories carefully you can get an approval rate of 50-60% for a good site (based on approval rates from our submission service).

We have a free directory list in which we keep track of the directories that are regularly approving free submissions.

It cuts both ways. If free directories immediatly add your website - expect that this directory will die soon since non-moderated directories very quickly become abandoned. Such directories are called fast directories and I call them link-farms. There are most of such free directories. In case of human edited directories - your website can wait more than half a year but backlinks from such directories always bring big benefits. Quickly approved in such directories are only Featured listings which are paid. For quick and effective promotion it makes sence especially if there is an opportunity to get good discount.

By sticking to niche directories I usually get over half of my submissions approved. The general directories approval rate is lower.

    100 submissions, 100% success.

    My secret...
    a) I read and follow submission guidelines
    b) I don't submit to dead on arrival directories
    c) I provide content directories editors just love

    :)

Get a good list of directories that are regularly updated and have the ability to report the bad ones. Most to all of the directories in my list have a high approval rate.

I find that good relevant directory submissions are a great way to get one way links to your website and the serps eat it up and love it - as long as its relevant to your site... and make sure to do it slowly... Dont submit to hundreds and hundreds in one day.... Slow but surely is the way to go.

It depends on the directory, your site’s relevance to that directory, and the kind of information you submit there. But some say directory submissions are not worth the much effort anymore. For those undecided whether to do it manually or through a software (like moi) here's a blog i've dug up. seoservicesaustraliadornet.au/manual-directory-submission-vs-automated-directory-submission.html.

i use submiteaze to do my submissions and it works well; get the submission confirmation emails, and get the acceptance emails. Time between submission tends to vary quite wildly, like I'll submit a site and then for months afterwards I'm still getting submission acceptance emails. Which is good I suppose because it basically drips the submissions over a period of time, rather all in one massive chunk.

The success rate of the directory submission is dependent on whether we submit foe free or paid submission. For free listing it will take long time for approval and for paid submissions approval will be fast. The directories like viesearch.com approve fast. Some directories like deepyalla.com rejects submission if we violates their rules for submission.

You need more than the 100 submissions as the approval rate will be extremely low. You need to also make sure that you are submitting to the right directories where it really matters instead of just mindless submissions where it wouldn't be really worth the effort.

Directory Submissions though contribute less in building backlinks as compared to other seo strategies followed, but should be done wisely in order to have links from them.
submissions in high pr directories with free listing takes time to approve, but provides backlinks for your site..!!
