Substitutes for Microsoft Word

    Do you know any substitutes for Microsoft Word? Mine takes for ever to come up. I wonder if there is a freeware version of a word processing program available.

    Open Office is quite good.
    Though you can try Office X3 by adobe.

    I've been using the OpenOffice suite for years on Win 98, XP and several Linux platforms. I would definitely recommend that.

    Another open source multiplatform option would be 'AbiWord' - http://www.abisource.com
