i'm looking for a plugin where i can allow visitors to my site to subscribe to posts in different categories. for example, visitors A and B subscribe to posts in category Y. visitors C and D subscribe to posts in category Z. The Subscribe2 plugin seems real good however that only gives the admin (me) the ability to remove certain categories from the notifications that go out. But I need to allow different people to only get notified about different categories. I know this can be done with RSS feeds. However aren't people moving away from RSS feeds? Don't RSS feeds only get routed to the RSS feed subfolders of your inbox? I need these notifications to go straight to the inbox. Please advise. thanks!
I am actually trying out properly this plugin now I have a website which runs newsletter via phplist but it piece of cr*p. Hope this thing will do better a job. So far so good, very clean interface and much better experience than a phplist... if you installed it, let me know your thought too..
thanks. i tried installing it through wordpress and the auto install didnt work. so i need to download, then FTP up, and give it a shot. i got sidetracked and will try later but I look forward to hearing your feedback too. as i mentioned i want specific people to subscribe to specific categories and there's instructions to do that here: http://www.wpresponder.com/providing-e-mail-subscription-to-a-particular-blog-category/. so hopefully this will work! more to come...
when setting it up, in the Global Newsletter Settings, where is asks for an Address (Attached to every e-mail in complaince with CAN-SPAM act in USA)... is it asking for the physical location of the business or an e-mail address?
i got it installed now and it seem to be working well! the only problem i see is a delay of a few hours from the time that the blog post is made to the time subscribers of the category receive an e-mail with the post. but i can live with that.
