subscibing to RSS but it doesn't display

    Hello.

I have a vBulletin forum and it allows you to display RSS feeds that you are subscribed to from other websites.

This typically works for me but for some reason when I try to subscribe to the RSS feed on this site, for example, it doesn't display the RSS feeds.

    The website is http://www.newtonindependent.com/.

Any idea what could be wrong?

    Thanks.

Where could I hire someone to troubleshoot this?

    It really has me perplexed.

Why not ask on the vBulletin forums? Are you getting any sort of error in your webserver's error logs? IS it for all feeds that you try?

I have tried over at the vBulletin forums. No response.

I'll have to ask my host to see if my site is getting webserver error logs.

It is not for every feed. Just the feed: http://feeds2.feedburner.com/NewtonIndependent.

The odd thing about it is that the link, above, works but it doesn't display in my vbulletin forum.

It passed but it has errors:

    http://feedvalidator.org/check.cgi?url=http://feeds2.feedburner.com/NewtonIndependent

    That may be the cause.

A quick check of the site shows that all three rss feeds (ie atom, rss and whatever the third one was, I forget) get passed to feedburner. Can you turn that off for a second and try using the original feed? The rss feed would be best since that's the simplest one. You may have to create a special template for it that doesn't get feed to feedburner. That's what I finally had to do to get my feed here picked up:

The website that produces the RSS feed is not my website. I am trying to subscribe to their RSS feed and display it on my vbulletin forum.

Is it possible for a the originating website to block the RSS feed from displaying on certain sites?

Yes but I'm torn on that happening here. Are you getting any sort of error when you try the feed?

Shawn here will tell you horror stories when using feedburner with the blogging url feature on the user -> Options page. They don;t normally work. That may be the case here.

Would this "error" be on the webserver? Otherwise, I as a subscriber to their RSS, don't see an error nor do I see the feed.

When you add in the feed to vB, what does vB tell you as a response?

Are you getting any sort of webserver error in your hosting logs for your site?

In my vBulletin forum the response, when an RSS feed is checked from this site (http://feeds2.feedburner.com/NewtonIndependent), is just that the admin control panel shows that the feed was checked but none of the feeds display on my forum.

I am contacting my host to see if there are any webserver error logs.

I have noticed that when I try to check the validity of the feed it says that it is a valid ATOM feed. I wonder if that could be the reason? Maybe vbulletin forums only display RSS feeds. Hmmm.
