Do you think it is a good idea to submit your own blog posts to article directories with your backlink to that post to help you gain publicity?

I figure the pros would be:
    Faster indexing?
    More backlinks
    More visitors

    The cons would be:
Your article does not appear to be unique to the search engines? Even though they see that anywhere your article is published, there is a backlink to the source?
How about submitting your blog posts to directories long after google has indexed them?

Maybe you should submit some, but not all?

I guess it would all depend on your marketing stradegy. If you are already a hugely popular blog, it might not do much. If you are just starting out, it might help get your site noticed.

    Any thoughts?
