Question on submitting to directories. tell me if I have it right ot wrong. Normally when I submit to a directory I check to see if there are any sights on there with escort service etc. If so I don't submit to them. I have a cooking site. there is a list on Dp and there are tons of new free directories, I was going through them, the thing is, so many of them I would go through them and checkout different sections on them and see sites with escort or a section that would say woman and go in there click on one or two of the links and see nude pics. etc. then decide not to submit to them, am I doing this wrong. Am I being to careful. I always try to submit to directories that have rules s like no adult sites. Thing is now I see a forum on Dp were new directories list there directories and so many are free and have no reciprocal links, but when I go through them most of them do not have a rules or none that I can see, , but I see so many people on here saying I just submitted to your site thank you etc. some people that have been on dp for a year or two so it makes me think. Now I am wondering should I list my site there did I miss a good back link. I did so much reading in the past that if you submit to bad directories it can hurt your site. what is a safe directory.
they are all safe, you don't get penalized for getting a link, because you have no control on links, also, Dmoz and Yahoo even list Hardcore Porn websites, are they bad directories ? of course no.. when choosing a directory, worry only about the page where your website will be listed (is it relevant? what kind of sites are present there .?) , the age of the directory, the pr of the directory (it matters to certain extent), the number of outbound links.. good luck
there is no such thing as a directory that can harm your serp. they just wont help any. the only directories that are worth getting is dmoz.org, yahoo, botw.org. also make sure the page u submit to has some PR
