Now that I am compiling a list of directories to submit my site to, i have to ask the question "how fast is too fast?". My natural instinct is to power through it all weekend without sleep, and get it done, then pay someone to submit to my site to the new directories *one guy on here does so for $20/month from what i read, which seems like an awesome deal*. On the other hand, i have read that if you suddenly have X backlinks in Y time, it will hurt your PR instead of increasing it...unfortunately i have yet to figure out what X and Y are. So, should i do 1 a day, 100 a week? Over time, when i have a higher PR (than my current 0) am i able to speed this process up? If there actually is a limit to the amount of backlinks you can "safely" get in a certain timeframe, wouldn't it be best to publish my articles/blogs first? hold of on the directory submissions 'till i have a writer's block?
Common question asked quite often. You can't manually or semi manually submit too quick to directories. Remember, it takes time for your submissions to be approved. Once approved, it then takes search engines time to find and index the links. Because of these delays, you are safe to manually or semi manually submit as quickly as you can. Happy link building!
Earlier I was a believer for 'not submitting too quick' but now I would agree with MeetHere and snowbird. I have done 3000 submission for many sites in 9 days (can't do faster than that manually) and haven't got any penalty for any of them. Approval and indexing delays make directory backlink look like naturally increasing backlinks
you donot need to worry on the same....as admin of directories are not going to approve all your links at the same time and also search engines are not going to crawl all the links at the same time...so you can go for bulk submission without any worry.
Thank you all for your comments. DP is just awesome for info. Anyway, I've been doing Semi-Auto the last 2 weeks to about 2000 directories and the whole time I'm telling myself either this is going to work fantastic or it's going to blow up in my face..... like others have said here - some of these directories take a few weeks to a few months. Maybe even longer if it's a "one-man" operation for apporvals. I got an e-mail in my box the other day for an approval and it was a few months old and I forgot all about it.
I wouldn't really recommend semi-auto or auto and I have written perils of auto submissions many times on the forum.
If you submit to 1000 directories in 1 day, not all the 1000 directories will approve your link in the same day. And if you submitted to 1000 directories, normally only 400 will be get approved. Among these 400, normally the first week you will get 50% approved, and then the next week around 30%, and the rest will be approved after 2 weeks. So don't worry about that.
I would say 15-13 per day. Too many links in a short period could put you in trouble with search engines. Such forms of link building are not recommended for the above reason.
