I'm curious if there are any limitations to the amount of catagories one should submit a site to when sending to theses directories. I thought I read you should only submit one link per day per directory. Will a directory penalize you if you submit the same url to 20-30 different areas? Anyone have some good reading material on submiiting to directories?
I remember submitting many sites to Zeal in its heydays, and there never was a problem. If the directories are important - DMOZ, Yahoo etc, then it is best to read their guidelines before submitting. Ajeet
You are actually allowed multiple cats, but normally only two per absolute url. IE www.myalsationsite.com can go in the generic 'alsation/german shepherd dog' cat, and also your regional cat as they are relevant to both. www.myalsationsite.com/training could be relevant to household>pets>dogs>training, and so this url would be accepted into there also.
Ive asked this question at the DMOZ forum before and they are adamant that you only submit one listing.
This is the best advice, read their submission guidelines. Some allow anchor text some do not, some let you submit in numerous categories some don't.
