Submitting to directories advice

Im going to start submitting my site to a large list of free directories. I was just wondering if anyone had any guidlines for the title as some of them say you must use the official name of the website, would you stick to this or use keywords. My company name will be Vision Window Films and the title I was going to use until I saw this was window film, window tint & window tinting as these are the three main keywords I want to target. Would I be bets advised to use the genuine title which has got the keyword of window film within it or try to use the second one?

The best method would be to use your site title and main keywords as your title for directories and switch it up, so you can rank well with multiple keywords in multiple directories and won't have the same "unnecessary" content posted on the directories.

Most free directories dont adhere to a set of guidelines no matter what they say...

Look them up in alexa to see if they get any traffic.
visit the category your links will be on to see if the pages are crawled and followed
pick the top 10-20 and call it good
most directory links are pretty useless

Your title should be based on your keywords, combine them and make sure to add it on the right category.

i do not think directory submission is a good way to get backlinks, you know if you submit it free,it need two or three month to approve your link,if you paid,i think you could get the link.but i do not think it is a good way.

it's true since they are looking for traffic or a large amount of link database only.

Most of the free directories might accept your keyword based title but some (like me) will reject your link. You can use your website's official name and one keyword like: "PreDirectory - Premium Web Directory" then it might be acceptable. But i prefer unique, official name of the website.

So would "Vision Window Films - Window Film, Window Tint & Window Tinting" be a good title to target window films, window film, window tint and window tinting keywords or would I be better with "Window Film" linked to my site in some directories and then "window tint" in another and "window tinting" in another. Im thinking of using the first as my link text

So something like "Vision Window Films - Window Film" might be my best bet?

I doubt any directory that accepts that as a listing title will be worth being listed in, and I suspect that a listing there might constitute a listing in a "bad neighborhood".

What Im thinking is, if by backling text is Vision Window Films because it has window film in there will that help me as much as having the text as "Window Film" or "Vision Window Films - Window Film". Will these 3 variations inprove my ranking for the keyword "window film" or would one give me a bigger push?

@visionwf: I think you are missing the factual point that Subet and robjones are both making.

You cannot submit Vision Window Films - Window Film as a site title. The second instance of Window Film is completely unnecessary. Why would anyone list a website that does that? It's spammy.

Of course, if you submit to low-level junky directories (see link farm) they will probably all include your listings.

If you want to be taken seriously by real directories, then use your official title and 1 or 2 keywords that indicate what your site does. BUT expect them to alter it to suit their specific directory editing guidelines/requirements/quirks.

    e.g.
    Site Title 1:
    Vision Window Films

If you want to target different keywords, then make them separate titles and rotate them across directory submissions. Do not submit different titles to the same directory.

This is bad: Vision Window Films - Window Film, Window Tint & Window Tinting

It has 4 site titles in one. Using any keyword 4 times in a title is a no-no.

People that put multiple titles and/or keyword repetitions in the one site title are called spammers. Directories that list them are called link farms.

    So instead try:
    Optional Site Title 2:
    Vision Window Film

    Optional Site Title 3:
    Vision Window Tint

    Optional Site Title 4:
    Vision Window Tinting

Ignore the advice, and you'll wander around these forums like the chicken little's that proclaim the directory sky has fallen in because they've submitted (*spammed*) to 10,000 directories and been listed in none of them.

There are a few things you can do to improve your directory listing. Like meta tags etc. I used to have a ebook on it.

I think directory not better rather than search engine, because if you want submite to famous directory not so simple but if you want submit to search engine verry easy and directory only have good traffic if you have same categories with them
