Submitting to article sites. Does it hurt my rank?

Hi all,

Im just now starting to submit articles to article sites but am kinda concerned as to whether or not I will lose the credit for it being unique on my site.

Im new to the article site concept so help me understand the way the search engines view this.

I want credit for the content of the article on my site/s. So by submitting the articles to other sites will I lose credit for the content being unique?

Will I get the credit because it was indexed as being on my site first? Will it not change anything at all?

Thoughts?

 

I think it would be better if you used specific articles for these sites and kept your own content unique. I am just experimenting with this myself and have lazily kicked off with an article that is already on my site. In future I will write stuff just for the article sites.

 

So you are saying that it could indeed hurt my ranking for the page with the original article?

 

Well, as I said I have just started playing with this Zman, but I guess it would depend on how well your own site and the page in particular was indexed/seo'd. If some hotshot downloaded your article, I think it would be possible for his site to beat out yours if he was better positioned to rank for the relevant keyterms.

If your site and the article was already well ranked on the terms then I think those that use the article would be seen as duplicates. There are many DP'ers with a lot of experience on this subject here and I hope they tip in their tuppence worth.

with articles, apart from a few i write my own unique content for my site (say a page or 2 long) then write a summed up version and submit that to the article sites.

 

Well most of mine are around 300 words or less so Im not sure of I can shorten them that much. Plus my writing sucks.

 

you could always take a section of your site and write an article about it.

say for e.g. you have 5/10/100 pages on music sum them up into articles

 

hmmm... that's a good thought. I may tinker with that bit.

 

Just write two slightly different versions - that's easy!

 

guys, I am also writing articles for my site and I want to submit them to various sites to get some traffic. Now I have some questions like :-

1. Does these article submission will increase my PR ?
2. I am also summarizing the content of my site and making them as articles and then submit it. Is it ok ?

how much these articles helps in bringing traffic ? how many articles should I submit to how many article submission sites ?

poseidon: Article submission for pr may not be a good idea. Good articles will generate targetted traffic to your site, and that should be sole purpose of submitting articles IMO.

Submit as many articles possible to as many sites. It always helps to get that extra bit of exposure.
