I allow people to download templates from my website but where would you recommend that i can release templates and some graphic work for free download which will result in more exposure for mywebsite. I also have footer links in them. freewebtemplates.com is one I have thought as it gets lots of traffic.
Free download will for sure generate you some good traffic. A link in footer is great way to increase your pagerank and when your free product is good enough you could gain a great pagerank very soon.
