Yeah - don't worry, but on the smaller ones it may become a problem (as it is pretty annoying when you have limited resources unlike Google).

most decent SE's that maintain multiple indexes will have duplication process to eliminate this problem from their end. The only hassle is maintaining those processes is quite resource intensive.

For two submissions i do not think this would be a problem.

Don't worry about getting penalized or anything. However, try not to overdo it. Once it has already been submitted, the crawlers will come by itself.

Pinging your site is kind of like tugging on your teacher's sleeve when something important is happening in the classroom.

"Um, Mrs. Crabapple, look over here! Look over here!"

It basically tells the search engines that something has changed on your site and that they should take a look.

    "Release the hounds!"

Just be careful not to over-do it or the spam bells will start going off.

I like Pingler a lot, except for their CAPTCHA issues with Firefox 3. It's a great tool. I also use Autopinger quite a bit.

If you have a lot of adSense adverts on your site, you don't get much traffic through msn or the live network.

I have never submitted any site and I get loads of good ranking...

Ping services and search engines are two different things. If search engines are already indexing, they would ignore re-submission of a site.

    don't worry about submitting twice...

i used to try site submission sites, i sent like 5 times without reading that i sent to MSN Live and Google, they understand, just make sure u don't submit too often, and make sure u submit once.. that's all u need.

actually, there's a great list to take advantage and not repeat the double-submission.

    please visit here.

    http://www.trafficflowseo.com/2008/03/free-search-engine-submission-links.html

then u will not duplicate your search submission, the above list was done my a fellow member here SEOFlow.

    hope that helps

I read from one SEO blog (unfortunately can't find it at the moment) that it's good idea to submit your site to Google every week if you have made changes during the week which is good idea to do.

What do you think about that suggestion?

This is absolutely not true. google bot will visit you once a month or so.
google crawlers will visit you if your sitemap.xml has frequency to contribute.

submitting many times will give you just penalty. I submit once, and it's all been updated, sometimes, within a in couple of hours, if you use blogger, within 30 mins..

    just google "site:www.yourdomain.com"

    you will see the results.

but do not submit weekly, especially to some sites like exactseek, annox, and etc etc.. They will definitely give you penalty for spamming...
