I started a blog recently. I have been submitting all of my posts to a variety of social bookmarking sites. I was under the impression that this increases backlinks and provides some traffic. However, I have been recently reading that it is not a good idea to submit all new posts to social bookmarking sites because users will see you as a spammer and future additions will not be viewed favorably. So, how frequently should I be submitting my posts to social bookmarking sites? Thanks.
It's a good rule of thumb to only submit your "rockstar" posts. And no, not every post you do is a "rockstar" post. Try and pick one or two a month that are your absolute best and are the most like the other ones that get high counts on the bookmarking sites. If you find that none of them are getting any votes or significant traffic, you aren't submitting the right ones or you aren't writing any.
Definitely true, only submit you "good stuff". And be warry of submitting articles during heavy news days, or "Lindsay Lohan falls down a flight of stairs with a straw up her nose and punctures her brain" days. You won't get any attention on days like that. Try ezine articles. I just had an article picked up this morning, and they sent one of those "Expert status " buttons to post on the article I submitted, and it goes on the front page. (PR 6 Backlink). It's my first time submitting to them , but it was a good result. Like was said, submit your "killer" stuff. If you submit everyday, they will get tired of you.
