Hi, I have a website with about 20 articles written by me. I was quite happy with 2 of my articles so I decided to submit them to ezinearticles and goarticles, (I was assuming that all other articles repositories would pick up the articles from them). Of course the articles point back to the pages in my site. After the PR update I noticed that Google gave me a PR3 for all my pages except for my two articles, (they remained PR0). Is it just a coincidence, or is Google under the impression that I copied the articles? FFMG
for sure you have your by-line and resource box included so it's your content not goarticles/ezinearticles but mostly article directory implement a no follow on articles placed on their directory, i could be wrong, though.
something like this <html> <head> <meta name="robots" content="noindex,nofollow"> <meta name="description" content="This page ...."> <title>...</title> </head> Code (markup): sorry to speak my native language
No worries . I checked goarticles and ezinearticles, they don't use "nofollow". That doesn't explain why the only two articles submitted got a PR0 while all the other, (not submitted), got a PR3 FFMG
can you show me somr url so i can pinpoint exactly? what does your awstats say about those specific articles? the more activities it has the more backlinks (some factors) can help boost your pr. also depends on the actual content.
Well, it looks like you need to make some changes to the article. Maybe add a few paragraphs for the article on your site. And maybe a few pictures. I don’t know for certain, I just find it odd that the two articles that I submitted are the only two that didn’t get PR3. Maybe I am just been paranoid. FFMG
It might not be a bad idea when submitting material from your site to rewrite the lead paragraph on the submitted material. It would not hurt just to turn editor and run through the full article and look for text to tighten up, delete, and so forth. A quick edit will transform it. This will also ensure it is not an exact copy. This is easier and quicker than a complete rewrite.
Yea, it looks like something I might need to do from now on. But I don't really know for certain, only a guess really. FFMG
I think it wil be related to some other factor rather than the fact you submitted the articles to other sites. The duplicate content filter simply stops sites with duplicate content ranking highly for search terms relating to the content - it will not affect your PR in my experience.
mad4 is exactly right. Just think about this. There are thousands of Amazon clone websites that have the same exact page indexed in Google with a PR greater than 0.
