I have a file host site called www.uploadwiz.com Would it be ok if I made an article about say gardening (for example) and made a page called www.uploadwiz.com/articles and posted it in there. Can any sites submit articles?
Oh..sorry, I misunderstood your question. Ok, articles work when submitted to other directories. Why should you do article submission? Article submissions are a very easy and natural way to get relevant backlinks/inbound links. When your article is submitted to hundreds of directories, you are getting relevant inbound links from all the directories, to your site. (Your article must contain a link to your site.) This helps the search engine to crawl your site, and gives you a higher ranking compared to your competitors. However, if you put up an article in your site, unless, your site is optimized very nicely, chances are..you won't get the benefit.
I am doing article marketing. But one thing I disagree is to submit to many article directories. I only submit to those high traffic article directory due to the fact google spider them everyday and my article get into google within days. I apply 80/20 rule always.
