Definitely helps. Appending your link in a forum siganture can get it on hundreds (or even thousands) of different pages immediately depending on how active you have been. Most of the forum pages will by PR0, but even if it gets on a few PR2, 3 or 4 pages it's got to help.

Forum traffic could be the best in some cases since it's targeted and free.

Yup, its true not only does it bring you traffic and maybe an increase in PR, but also at the same time a chance for others to recongnize your site freely and faster. ;)

don't think it helps with pr..btw what does pr do for your site again?....probably won't be any backlinks to this page so it won't really be that important....

Been reading around, Google does not take the sig into its backlink count. But, sure any and all traffic is good.

Google certainly DOES count signature links in backlink count. One site I have is promoted ONLY in forums and is fairly new. It went from PR0 to PR4 in this first round and it's all because of forum signature linking.

But getting 1000 sig links from one single forum is not going to make google count 1000 backlinks to your site.

It's definitely worth posting your url in forums and everywhere else you can. Obviously the higher traffic forum the better.

    In simple answer Yes

I have a website called www.freewebportland.com where you can see

in Google it has more than 68 back links

and most of these back links are from forum signatures

    check it here

posting in forums like V7n.com and www.freewebspace.net

in addition to this will improve your PR definitely

as I have seen PR1 for some digitalpoint threads
