Hello everyone! I submitted a sitemap in XML format for my site an hour ago, generated it by http://www.auditmypc.com/free-sitemap-generator.asp
Now it shows the error "Your Sitemap does not appear to be in a supported format. Please ensure it meets our Sitemap guidelines and resubmit."
Here is the file page on my site http://www.modernights.com/sitemap.xml
Please help me if anybody knows whats wrong.

I am trying to figure out what exactely is wrong with it. There are just two options after you generate your sitemap: to save it in "plain" or "xml" formats. I went step by step according to guidelines of this tool. Can you guys please lokk it up here: www. modernights.com/sitemap.xml

Your file uses <entry> tags that is not a valid Sitemap protocol tag.
Have a look here http://www.sitemaps.org/protocol.php how a sitemap file looks like.

If <entry> tag is the problem, is it possible to edit the existing file?

Well, it's impossible to use this generator when there are thousands of pages to submit.

    Hi russianzio,

I beg to differ. I have recently used this application to create and submit a sitemap with just over 11,000 pages.

The one on the ebooks site below is over 3000 pages and was also created with this tool.

If website size is a problem, you can also try A1 Sitemap Generator.

Can easily scan 100.000+ page websites.

However, if you need to scan websites bigger than 100.000 or have a computer with a low amount of memory, I recommend to configure the program for scanning large websites first! :)
