Hi, Over the past couple years I have submitted my site a lot of directories yet when I do a link:my domain.com, I only see 7 links and only one of my own internal links. What do I need to do in order that backlinks actually appear in Link:mydomain.com? Thanks, Happy Holiday!
It's possible that, even though you submitted your site to those directories, the directories did not enter your site into their database. It's also possible that the directories you submitted to aren't liked by Google.
Google is not considering directory linkbacks as a healthy links and hence they are not listed in link:domain.com. However, you would be able to see the directory linkbacks in google webmasters tool site.
yeah , I agree with you, Google is not considering directory linkbacks as a healthy links, it's useless...
Only SEO friendly high quality and high pr directories can give you link back on link:domain.com and this process take time to register your link back into goold result. so wait for some to look better results. Thanks ~jakki~
Directories take a lot of time in approving links. Even after they approve the links, search engines will take time in indexing (reindexing) internal category pages. So give it some time.
I am agree with him. Directory Submission is not Only Enough for get a back links You do other activities Like Social Bookmarking, Article Submission etc...
What a load of rubbish that has been posted in this thread!! The link: operator in Google only ever returns a small random sample of all the links that Google knows about and uses. The sample is random and has nothing to do with quality or anything else. Just because a link is not in the sample has NOTHING to do with it being counted by google or not or if its a quality link or not.
The nonsense in this thread continues. Links exchanges are worthless; have been devalued by Google; and are probably against Google's guidelines.
What is there to not understand? Links exchanges are worthless. No one except the SEO kiddies here at DP seem to think that there is any benefit to be gained from them
If you have a google webmaster tools account you can get a better picture of your back links. The google link command doesn't show all of the links back to your site.
Some of the directories may not have accepted you and not even told you. I'm a little annoyed because I added loads of links on my site to blog directories that didn't even accept my submission. This free tool should give you a rough guide as to how many backlinks you have: backlinkwatch.com It even tells you if it's NoFollow and other details too...although it's only worth posting on a NoFollow blog if it gets a lot of visitors a day Besides, it can take ages to submit to all the directories, I found a website a month ago that submitted your site to about 150 directories in less than an hour (you just click on blog type and a button), but I lost the link and never got to submit to all directories :S, you can of course hire people to do it.
I just think most of these directories are crap, and you are wasting your time. The owner is either not going to maintain his directory, or sell it away....
