I have been working on this site for over 6 months and its now fully indexed in google and all set. So, today i decided to submit to a respective category and amazingly it has an editor as well, luckily category is not that big either, however, i'm keeping my hopes low and going to count days, i shall refer back to this thread if i ever get listed. I have a question to editors, Have you ever approved or disapproved a site instantly as soon as it has been submitted into your category? or what is the shortest time period you have taken to approve a site from the time of its submission.
Just pay for your domain and hosting long enough so that your great grand children can inherit it and then the site might get listed. Maybe its time ODP charged for reviews and paid editors. That might help get things moving and stop the heaps of spam submissions they get...
It depends. if it offers content and matter that no other site offers it could take a few days. it takes about 48 hours for the site to show up in our new sites list because it has to go threw spam filters. also it depends on how many sites that editor has to edit and his or her free time they have. Good luck
Just being truthful Jin. I hope you get reviewed quickly. It has happened before, but most categories do have a very long wait. Good luck
A content which no other site offers? there have been billions of sites and how is it possible to stay 100% unique. Aha new system! i hope it offers great usability to editors. So, is there a limit to edit sites? like a particular rank editor cannot edit more than 10 sites in certain period of time? Thanks for wishing the good luck and i hope my category editor is an active one with plenty of time on his/her hands
Yea, i can understand as i have another site which took about 7 months to get approved, i had actually gone through more than 500 listings in my category and filtered all expired and broken ones and reported some how and probably after some time some editor got a chance to look at expired and broken lnks and mean while went through fresh submissions, but it was a pretty boring and lengthy process. This time the category i have submitted into is very small so i hope it gets listed quicker.
What I mean by offering content no other sites have is copy and past content and mirror sites. some editors edit lots of categories and the free time they have online is limited.
Aha got it. Do you think its a good idea to email the editor after certain point of time and remind him to check out new submissions in his category (not begging to get your site listed) or report broken links?
So how does that work? My category has no editor, the parent category does but when I click on the editor's email link it says: As it's advised not to resubmit an url I don't see an option.
Copy and paste. That's the right term. "Noob" editors are usually very aggressive. They pretend to help but their not only to impress senior editors to get a promotion or widen their categories. Kids pretend that they know everything.
It's OK I already pulled him about his bad spelling here but he has a spellchecker so that's fine isn't it.
Your welcome and that's the kind of noob editor you are. ODP must be desperate in recruiting editors. Standards have declined tremendously. Mostly a$$H---s are approved and advices provided here are bunch of crap or they don't even know what they are talking about. You can name call me whatever you like as I speak the truth as you are an under rated editor who gives shitty advice. LMAO !
