Submitted articles but no inlinks

I have written a couple of articles and included links in the bio and submitted them to various sites like ezinearticles and isnare most recently about 2 weeks ago. I check inlinks in detail regularly (using yahoo site explorer etc) but have never found any resulting from those submissions, not even from the directories themselves. Is that because the articles are amazingly bad :) or have I misunderstood something? What am I missing here?

Yes I agree it can take a few weeks for new links to show up as part of your backlinks using site explorer and google.

Aha thanks. But looking them up through search engines I don't find them either. What takes the time? Is the point that the process of syndication takes a few weeks?

u also need to consider sandbox effect if ur site is new.
Search Engine Optimization takes time, thats y most of the SEO guyz take approx. 3-4 or more projects together.

Go slow and if some1 is eating ur head, tell them to buzz off

Google doesn't crawl a lot of article sites very deeply at all. Therefore, only submit to the good quality article sites otherwise you are wasting your time.

The other thing to do is to search the article sites, grab the url, then paste these on a site which is being crawled e.g. a blog you own. Then google will find the articles (and links) you have written, but dont expect my weight to be passed.

Sorry to keep asking questions but I think I am learning a lot! :) Why does Google not crawl them deeply?

Of course if I was Google and if I was trying to stop people from manipulating the SERPS then I would suspect that the only reason half the articles are there is to get backlinks, but then I would just be being cynical of course!

if you were google would you crawl an article site with millions of articles / pages which are of poor quality and only exist to give a backlink to the author's site?

    Poor quality is an understatement.
Those article creation software arent just writing articles, they are rewriting the english language. :(
