SubmitIt: Anyone?

    Hi All,

I recently bought MS's SubmitIt just to get three of my sites listed in the small business directory. The directory seems pretty solid, lots of links, all to different pages (deep links) and, depending on your niche/business they could have some value (PR-wise, for a new site).

But this SubmitIt tool, which comes as the main product, seems useless. It crawls all the pages of my site and evaluates each page based on a single keyword phrase.

Basic SEO says build each page for a different keyword phrase, right? Or am I wrong here?

For instance, I have a funeral home site based in cityname, statename. So, I have 10 pages, one is optimized for "cityname funeral home," one for "cityname statename funeral home," one for "cremation cityname statename," one for "casket cityname statename," ad infinitum.

SubmitIt asks for one keyword phrase (I choose "cityname funeral home") and crawls EVERY PAGE of the site, pointing out what alt tags don't have that phrase, or how many pages of the site don't have that exact phrase.

Am I using this tool incorrectly? Has anyone here used it to evaluate their pages with some success? Does anyone use this at all?

    Thanks.

Yeah, the tool is near to useless. A nightmare to use. Just use the directory, that's what I do. The rest of their 'functionality' can be achieved by just SEOing your pages as usual, outside of their tool, the way you are used to doing it.
