True, however remember, end of the day it is only a search engine and I am sure they will crawl your site sooner or later.... but, if submitting your site can get you index sooner then why wait and go for "later" anyway? Best of luck amigo... Cheers~!
One of my sites is in Cuil but I wouldn't ever use the search engine myself. I just don't like the blocky layout at all. Too much paint and not enough text info. They need to make the site images like thumbnails instead of such large pictures. I predict failure for Cuil. There is way too much SE competition out there. Yahoo can't even hold it's head above water and Cuil isn't so cool, they just had a good press release and got on the news. They are enjoying their 15 minutes.
True that, however they are not even one week old yet so give them some time and I am sure things will get webmasterish with them.
what is the useragent for Cuil? I am thinking of blocking cuil from all my sites with robots.txt because I don't want to waste the bandwidth
Just Email Jim of Cuil and he will surely block Twiceler and tell it not to index your valued pages. And sure!@bandwidth
Funny, I musn't have been paying attention lately, I didn't realize that it was CUIL that was behind the whole TWICELER stuff where all kinds of people were angry about major amounts of bandwidth sapped. I googled around and found out that the Cuil bot didn't properly respect the robots.txt files late last year when they were getting started, but supposedly it does now. The code to put in your robots.txt file to block Cuil is: User-agent: twiceler Disallow: /
Thanks a lot for that vital info canam.. Yeah it seems that last year Cuil was experimenting like crazy! At least now, since the official launch, they are respecting the webmaster demands0
Cuil is poor they should quit now. First of, all your refer someone to cuil by mouth, how would they even know what to type into their browser? Kwil? Quil? Cwil? Quill? WHO KNOWS! Second of all try using cuil for a couple of days instead of google, I tried to and it was crap, I went back to using Google in about 3 hours.
I am not saying they are bigger than Google or Yahoo already, all I am saying that they have the potential to be bigger... and if they use it well then they will be successful... I am not Cuiling either and Google is the best presently, since a very long time and I love everything about Google to be very honest! I believe that a little competition (in the future) will only make all the engines more efficient and correct. Everyone said the same thing about Google when they launched at first, Google Guugle, Gugal, Googal, Googul, Gewgle, Googgel, Googlee and woot not... the spelling really doesn't matter for Cuil.. its just way to short and their home site really emphasizes the spelling precisely.
if you had read three posts up you would have noticed the name of the cuil bot is "twiceler" to block it in your robots.txt just put: User-agent: twiceler Disallow: /
You have a point but out of those if i didn't know how to spell Google I would naturally spell it "Google", whereas Cuil I would probrably spell "Quil".
Interesting but is anybody getting any traffic from cuil? This being most important to a webmaster like myself.
