Then i will say their algo is the worst algo. When every other search engine on the planet is saying "this is A" and Cuil is saying "this is B". I can imagine why you like CUIL so much
Sometimes I think I am talking to a statue and not with a live human being when I am talking to you.... .... Never mind Sunil... I know it cause I took the time to read their official documents/history and stuffs like that.... I know it cause I wanted to know it.... Thought you said yourself that you want to neglect the thread if I am not wrong... whatever happened to that... Move on... Just move on and forget it! Godspeed!
Just see what the near future brings amigo.... Yes indeed its 2008 and not 1998.... And yes they are dealing with 4 TIMES the data than Google is... I love google and I rely on google completely for every single search, but I tend to think that competition will bring only the best out of the search engines, any search engines and thats what Cuil MIGHT do. Whether you submit your site to Cuil or not is your sole decision and I am sure you are happy taking it, as I am happy taking mine.... Maybe their algo sucks presently, but with their potential and access to data... and even the determination I am pretty sure that something good will come outta it in the future someday soon. Till then, Merry meet merry part and merry meet again amigo! Cheers!
Is this joke? However, you must remember that Cuil is officially two days old and NONE of the EXISTING search engine had so much data when they started and when they were like two days old. Cuil is much more older but it seems that they have started with promoting community campaign on different discussion board. It will not help hem a lot because it is still useless search engine comparing with Google, Yahoo or Live. Their bot Twiceler has been around for last 2 years and it is very aggressive and in the past does not obey robots.txt Many people complained that their bot hammered sites and server mostly under IP address 38.99.44.104 ( crawl-13.cuill.com ) if Cuil is representative of they work at Google then it is no wonder that they (2 ex-Google employees) are ex-Google employees. ps Just take a look here: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=369570 http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=Twiceler+bot&btnG=Google+Search
Statue never speaks I am not personal with CUIL. What i felt i shared with others. You may like it because you have reasons. I may not like it because i also have reasons.
You are complaining about a Bot: which is spidering your site aggressively so that it can list you in the search engine so that YOU get more traffic..... Oookay I get your point alright And the keyword in that phrase was OFFICIALLY.... I know that their bot have been crawling for more than a year, but they launched it officially as a customer end search engine a few days back... Thats what I was talkin about.... Cheerios!
I am also still waiting for a reply to my email and I have never seen any sign of a Cuil spider on my site.
Surprisingly, my site is already in cuil index However, I havent seen any traffic coming from cuil so far.
The point is that search engine is not 2 days old but longer. Whois is show it that this useless search engine domain is registered since August 07, 2007. About a year! Thus that have nothing to do with 2 days cuil.com 84.53.136.33 Tom Costello Tom Costello 1127 Thorntree CT San Jose, CA 95120 US costello@cs.stanford.edu Cuil Inc. Although Cuil has its new features (with images of sites and not too censored) compare to google but its right mouse scroller is rather difficult to be found, better only 1 roller not 2. And the black color background is confusing cause in IE browser sometimes the filled in form's cell background also becomes black too so could not found where to type the word for searching.
@DENY There is a big difference between an official launch and a search engine which is operating in the background. The reason you are arguing is probably because you didn't get relevant results when you searched, which is understandable because 50 million search came through in the first two days of the huge launch. 50 million searches in 48 hours for a search engine that officially launched two days back. Thats around One million 42 thousand individual queries per hour for a search engine that just launched two days back!! I'm just trying to say that before abusing a new engine which launched to be the biggest ever, give it a chance! Why? Cause they deserve it! Personally I love Google and I haven't used Cuil in a realistic way, but I know that if they try then not only me but everyone else will consider it as good as or even better than any other engine. Remains to be seen, thats my point! And trust me I've done my homework about Twiceler, the bots and everything else that they are about. I'm just interested in search engines and the way they work. Thats all honestly. If you think that Cuil is useless and don't want your site to be indexed by the world's biggest search engine, then through a form you can simply email them and they will take you out immediately so they say. Hope this helps, now go ahead.. Deny! Lol.
I think the layout for cuill results is very attractive, but they are putting pictures with the wrong site quite often. Also, it will take a huge effort to get people to change their behavior. Almost everyone uses Google and to get them to change is a huge task. Why would people change if they are perfectly happy with Google? /*tom*/
I think a lot of you are missing the point cause most of you are asking "what's in it for me; today?!" Yes, CUIL is new and its search results algo is bad today. The reason why it's being buzzed is because they have a fast bot and their backend/index algo is potentially faster (and cheaper?) than Google's. That's the only reason why people are talking about them. What does that mean for your average webmaster today? Nothing. Unless people are using it, it won't drive any traffic. Right now, CUIL is in a catch 22. They can certainly tweak their results algo to matter more, but they do need user feedback to let them know how they're doing. So yes, game changing engine and faster bot = good. Even though it's not driving any traffic doesn't mean you all need to trash it. From what I can tell, a lot of you are sick of the Google kool-aid anyway so why not just let the two battle it out and see who comes out on top?
