submit to non popular search engines ?

I am always advised to submit only to the top 3 search engines. What about
the less popular search engines ? I believe they can bring in some traffic that we may miss out from the top 3 ?

Well, less popular search engines have less visitors, and less power (maybe due to money).

To be honest, I've never submitted myself to a search engine, all the crawlers found my website and added me quickly :)

Searchers tend to used those three search engine because they offer a larger and more up-to-date index and has a better representation of the information available in the Web... But if i were you, try to submit your site to other search engines also..

By my opinion, the more sites are linking to you, the more chances there are that visitors and the crawlers from the three major search engines will pass some visitors or juice to your site. If it doesn't cost you any money or not much time, I would submit my site them for sure. There is one of my latest search engines, for example, offering free url submission. Check it out! A free link cannot hurt...

    hi cher,

Just submit only the 3 top SE. No need to submit less popular SE.. Do seo properly, build link for your site, all others SE will automatically index your site.

    Thanks and regards

I agree, it couldn't hurt. Even if just 1 or 2 people are using them. Every now and then I get referrals from search engines I've never heard of before. Some I haven't even been able to find using my own searches.

    It's all good. :)

It won't hurt you and bring you a link. Even though you don't get any PR. Links is a link

I think such a huge ammount of people use yahoo or google traffic from less popular search engines is negligable. Maybe it would be time wasting.

I only submitted to the most popular ones. After that, the smaller ones found me and indexed me pretty quickly, so there's no need to submit to them. They'll do it for you. :)

I worked several years for a small search engine. so much traffic from the little guys are fraudulent and garbage. stick with the big guys. only real people go there for real searches. other wise you're getting asian traffic or click bots or something.

For me I alway subkit my site to all search engine as they might get you traffic and links at the end of the day and also you do not know where they will be in 5 years, maybe bigger than what they are now?

Well, if its some mass submission service for free or really cheap, what can you lose (more than a few bucks).

Sometimes you might get backlinks, or you might get ranked higher in the SERPs because of it.

i currently get traffic from a couple of search engines.. though i've never submitted to any... but it all came as a result of getting spidered and receiving from traffic from yahoo first and much later google...

so i'd say concentrate on yahoo/google all rest will come..
