I'm just wonderng whether that would be worthed of my time or not? Because I've heard that if the directory doesn't have a good quality, it's kind of useless by submitting my site into these directories, please give me opinion, suggestions...

I'm thinking whether it's useful to just submit my site to many free directories, there are just so much of them, I'm just wonderng whether that would worth of my time.

I submitted my site to AliveDirectory aready. I'm planning to submit it to Aviva Directory pretty soon, but wondernig whetehr Free directories are worth to submit... :-/ thx all

I have taken the time to manually submit sites to the free directories on the info.vilesilencer list and believe that it was beneficial.

If you have time, they do count as backlinks to your site. If you do, just be patient... I have had to wait more than a couple of months for some of them.

beneficial = boosting PR, strengthening association of my sites with other sites on the same topics

The links from free directory submissions are not all processed at the same time. Links won't be added all at once even if you wanted them to be. You should be fine.

I'd recommend that you don't rely solely on free directory links though. Get some authority links too (both from topical sites in your niche and from strong paid directories with good listings in a specific category for your niche).

Early last week I submitted my site manually to about 50 free directories, and just today I googled my key terms 'halo 3 clan' and 'halo 3 forum' and I am now in no 1 spot for 'halo 3 clan' up from the 3rd page, and also on the bottom of the 1st page for 'halo 3 forum' up from the bottom of the 2nd page for that key term since I added my sites to the directories.

I have heard that they are good and bad, but after reading Aaron Wall's seo ebook I decided to give it a shot, and turns out the guy was right, and I got up a little bit higher in G. Now I am going to write an article and submit that for a few extra back links, and see what that does.

Wish you best of luck if you decide to submit.

And don't forget that the free directory with 0 PR you submit to today, may be a paid directory with a PR of 5 in a few months. I submit to them for this reason. You may get lucky.

Most free directories don't stay that way indefinitely. Some will close, others will grow into successful paid directories, and when that happens you'll be glad you submitted when you did.

Just keep submitting, if you see that the directory is quality (design, rules etc...) just add. Most of the free directories become paid after free-period.

It really cannot hurt you, so why not do it. You can also pay a company to submit your site as well for little money if you find the right company!

In the beginning why not submit to a few. I'd just submit to a couple of the big ones. FWIW in this forum alone there are lots of great dir's at great prices. Do some shopping you could get 3-4 GOOD dir submissions for under 40 or 50$.

It is definitely a good way to gain backlinks, especially if you target the better quality directories. Stay away from the spammy ones, the ones which are rarely updated with new links, etc.

I have a directory submission service & have found that new directory links directory links get picked up by Google, Yahoo et al. quite quickly, providing that the directories in question have a good reputation with the search engines & are visited by them on a frequent basis. So, directory links are indeed a fast & reliable way to get links.

    Here's a highly-selective list of good ones:

    all best,
