maybe they reviewed your website and didn't like it. That's the most likely cause

Many posts complain about the same. According to what i've read, be indexed in their directory takes a lot of time. Maybe you should try to contact other people sharing the same bad experience to see if they manage to find a solution.

It's hard to get into DMOZ now a days. Conflict of interests are within the DMOZ's editors.

I used DMOZ some year ago but have given up on it. I was even an editor for a while. But it doesn't look like an active project to me any longer.

Does it actually have any relevance left these days (aka "should I begin to care again")?

Don't remind me, I've been waiting 2 years, 1 and a half years and 4 months for 3 of my sites respectively. I'm not even gonna bother wasting 2 minutes filling in the damn DMOZ form for the next one's.

I think it is normal for people to wait many months, I also have sites not yet added after more than 1 year.

There is an entire forum for the ODP / DMOZ discussions, there you'll find that two months is not a long wait at all.

Though, in order to actually answer you're question you'll need to give a bit more information, such as your site and the category you submitted too. This will allow those willing to help a chance to see your site to see if it fits within the guidelines and to know if the category you submitted too has an editor and to see how active that section gets updated.

Ultimately there are two rules when submitting...
    1. Submit & Forget
    2. Forget 2 Submit
As the wait time in many cases is exactly the same.

I think I've been waiting since 2004. I submit about once a year. Who am I supposed to pay?

that could be your problem...every time you re-submit, it gets moved back down to the bottom of the pile :(

Again, what site & what category?

If your site is not listable here, it's likely no listable there. Also, markn26 is correct.

As for who to pay, I say anyone willing to give unique and quality content, as that is the surest way into DMOZ (short of becoming an editor).

You have a better chance of getting your site banned then getting if you try that approach.
