I've heard/read a lot of good things about Bookmarkingdemon from others although I don't yet own it myself.

I know of some article submission software, but not directory submission. Although I'm sure there are some out there.

I have heard that most directory submission softwares do not deliver the results they promise.

True - the results they do deliver are just links from link farm directories with no pagerank and lots of links on each page. If anyone finds a really useful automated tool, please share it here.

in earlier years before capcha and directories - fully automated worked fine for many years.
then things changes years back and I used to spend times and again hours to search/find/manually submit to various quality directories - often from
    http://www.searchenginecolossus.com/
just to find out that above list had lots of out of service dirs

now I use semi-automated directory submission
I belief that most ppl here in DP have a wrong idea about these modern SEMI-automated submission tools and belef that all is similar to automated.

good tools have a list, sorted by regularly updated PR, allow a link-check to deactivate 404 directories, and then allow you to manually click a dir, then the tool automatically directs you to the best start point for submission- often directly the form page - and fills out all PRE-configured data from your own data profile OR better selection of different profiles.

Hence the tools does the writing free of spell errors

a good semi-automated tool THEN allows you to verify all, to make changes or choices, to accept preselecte category/subcategory OR change category manually for full optimization.
    ....

hence modern tools are computer assisted manual submissions with the benefits of keeping track of which directory you submitted, success/accepted and later on allows you often to verify if your link still is online.

good tools also allow you to instantly post a required reciprocal link to your site without using ftp or so - just by a single click without manual editing and possible errors.

the only difference to full manual submission is a

    tremendous time-SAVING
plus modern records of your submissions
plus directory list verification for 404 and PR
all under direct step by step manual visual control.

I don't think this is a good way to submit your site. The best way is to submit by hand.

to "think" and to KNOW are tow different worlds!

it's quiet apparent that you totally have failed to even partially understand below explanation of computer/SW assisted MANUAL submission as done with modern high end semi-automated submission tools.

while there still might be some other tools just autosubmitting to FFA sites, i KNOW as a result of personal testing, that several modern tools do same job as the one I use currently semi-automated submission..

the proper features of MODERN semi-automated tools are described in my post below and some additional feautures described in the blog post ( sig link ).

If you want to have a look and TEST such tools, nomally good tools have a limited tiral version / demo version good enough to learn to appreciate the benefits of owning a computer to assist you in your work.

the one tool I use for my own work is the one linked in my blog post - however there are others out there and I chose this one for its features and never for the price. I could have had another tool all for free from a SW supplier where i purchased 200+$ in SW months ago.

my current tool comes with some 3500+ directories - I have an additional several thousand and have totally integrated some 7500 directories - in en, fr, es, de and it languages. enough for me to always chose a number really matching ones.

keep in mind that directory submission is an ONGOING lifetime project for ALL the years to come as long as you publish. as you keep publishing and expanding content - you need new submission to matching new directories.
a KEY advantage is that a tool keeps TRACK / recors of all previous directories and pages / categories ever submitted to.

just use a demo version or a few different - then compare and make a choice.

submission ALWAYS means lots of time - even with a semi automated tool you still need to sit down and write your various profiles and profile variations and enter all data for each profile. but you do it ONCE in a life time and later may just need to change/adapt those few data that have changed.

until recently I tried the past 11 yrs about all variations. and of course i did lots of manual submission having a HUGE text file made to have copy and paste data available for most of my different sections. but i had NO record to which directory i ever submitted ........ and no way to control an entry. and no control of the dir PR.

I actually tried this out around a month back, since it came with another piece of software I wanted to try. I ended up demanding a refund because they were horrible products.

SubmitEqualizer has an outdated list, over half of the directories it submitted to were 404. The rest it said it submitted my website to, but I never found the link back anywhere!

Overall I thought it was a major scam. I did get SOME submissions- but not many mind you. I would never use this product again, and am glad I got a refund or I would've been quite outraged.

    Bottom line: don't buy it.

good SW always has a free demo/trial version

the one I use has updaed directory list PLUS a built-in 404 test and PR updater that can be run on all directories and is run automatically on new sedlf-imported lists.
the PR updater is a very useful feature since most lists circulating have old/too high PR and many 404 as well.

if a developper is confident about his product, he always has a free demo version OR of course a money back guarantee

I tried the semi automatical software SubmitEaze, but it's a waste of my money. I'm not going to give bad fame to SubmitEase, just saying that semi automatical software will not save your time.

I'm providing some manual directory submission service last year, which charge around $50 for submitting to 1000 directories. I thought by semi automatical software, I can finish one order in one day. But I was wrong, first, the directory loads slower than in browser directly (actually the semi software will load the browser first, and then load the directory); second, if you can open one directory each time, and if you open several windows of the software, this will crash the software or your system.

So finally I gave up the software, and just open around 6 directories each time from my directory list, and since allowing cookies, each time I don't need to fill in each field of the submission form. I just type in the first character and it will show you filled title, email, name, etc. The only thing is that you shall use ctrl + v to paste the description and input the image code. This is much more fast the the software, and will not crash your system.

Finally I cancel my manual submission service and started providing an automatical directory submission service (only $6.95 to 1000+ directories) this year.
