Just wondering, do you think it is useful or necessary to do link-building for FORUMS via paid submissions to directories? In my view, i'm more concerned abt traffic than PR. So in this sense, the $$$ used for paid submissions to directories can prob be put to better use in social book marking sites for example. With regards to SE rankings, i'm not sure how significant backlinks from directories will play for forums. Not too convinced that they play such an impt role too. What do you guys think?
I know many people do submit to quality directories for SERP's purpose. And I think they help forums, not sure how much though.
Traffic is a focused objective for all serious site owners, and by getting quality back links creates more indexed references on SE's and of course the higher your PR the higher you will rise up the G Serp's We built an indepedent site up from zero by just submitting to paid directories now 6 months later that site has over 300 Uniques a day So sure it works because with over 300 uniques a day you can soon show a ROI ie Site Revenue has paid back all the directory submission costs 3 times over
I think it is a must -- as Britishguy said --PR is very important for G SERPs. And it will take a long -long time to get PR6 ( Standard for good forums) -with natural links. Many self-proclaimed SEO do not believe in PR helping SERPs --but one just has to go through G's Webmasters guideline to understand the matrix between PR and SERPs. Good quality directories will help you build lots of indexed pages on the web which will make bots find your forum quicker.
