What is the difference between submission and placement and when will my first page paid placement list on the search engines?

With respect to search engines, submission is the process of submitting a website directly to search engines. Placement is when the search engines, in return, rank that website and position them in SERPs. About your paid placements showing up on first page...that totally depends on the popularity of the search term and how much you are willing to spend.
