Subdomains & SEO

    I purchased a domain that has a subdomain that's found on Google searches as a completely seperate website than the original domain.

    Is there any advantage/disadvantage to running the subdomain on a seperate ip address on the same server from an SEO perspective? Both domain and subdomain have some good PR at the moment..
